Brooklyn and Austin unite at the most official unofficial SXSW event of 2012. The location has changed but the mission remains the same: to introduce festival-goers and Austinites to a bevy of Brooklyn roots bands, showcasing them alongside their Texan indie-country counterparts.

Showcasing on two outdoor stages, this year’s lineup includes The Defibulators, Gangstagrass, Dawn Landes, Whiskey Shivers, Alana Amram & The Rough Gems, Golden Bear, Andy Friedman, The Sweetback Sisters, Loves It!, Jamie Thomas, Nicholas Ginbey, and Thunderado. (set-times TBA)

Sponsors:
-BROOKLYN BREWERY beer will flow on tap
-BUFFALO TRACE Kentucky Straight Bourbon tastings throughout the night…
-’PICKLEBACK SHOOTOUT!’ featuring a selection of pickles by Rick’s Picks

Austinites may be familiar with the vodka Pickleback, the practice of chasing a shot with a hit of pickle juice. The Brooklyn breed of pickleback almost exclusively accompanies bourbon or Irish whiskey, and at the Brooklyn Country Cookout you can expect to find a range of pickle pairings, including the inevitable spicy chili tequila twist.

Location: Papi Tino’s, a tranquila Mexican cantina with an agave-laden courtyard and front patio on E. 6th St.

This is a free event!
6pm-Midnight
Git there.
